o___O hmmm, are u afraid of presentations?
in fact, most of us afraid of public speaking.
it's being feared by most people according to survey(can't remember which one).
my friend here, Shoba, (yes, she has a cute name, probably she has cute parent who named her)
is afraid of public speaking,
now this blog is kinda like: dedicated to her xD hope u guys like it
we usually afraid of public speaking because of the tension, ideas like imagine u are just alone, imagine ur audience is lamp post...... it's all about eliminate ur tension of being watch
if u can overcome this problem, u r ready to public speaking xD
first step, for students, ask question in class
when we ask questions in class, everyone will be looking at u
yes, i know, the "looking at u" sounds very terrifying,
but hey, when people is speaking/ talking, u should look at them right?
it shows respect to the person who is talking.
but, what if no one is watching? well, if no one is watching u, u can do watever u want xD
i mean, u can feel free when u r asking the questions ;)
so, if u can try ask questions in the class, u can get used to the feeling of being watched(by the class)
as i have mentioned earlier in my blog(err, i sounds a bit like a lecturer =____=)
organise ur point before u going to speak at ur presentation
ur language doesn't have to be grammatically perfect,
as long as ur points is being presented, u score (yeah xD)
so, focus mainly about ur content, reading out ur notes will only make ur audience sleepy =____=
of course, even when we are well prepared, butterfly still appear in our stomachs and flying around to distract us
so, we need something to calm ourself down in order to make a good presentation
for example, get urself something to hold (like, a bottle of water)
for myself, i rolled over my sheet of text and hold it so that i feel secure in certain sense :)
maybe u can do it too! grabbing a bottle of water and pretending that u are thirsty
in every presentation, we often encounters a problem,
we forgot of certain vocabulary in our sentense (yes, in Malaysia, english rarely a person's mothertongue)
when u have things like this happen, we usually get nervous staright away and struggling to get things right, right?
but, DON'T DO THAT
it making urself even more nervous
my suggestion is, try pause for a while, (pretending there's a flemme in ur throat or something)
calm down, take a long breath and continue
it helps u think better instead of rushing urself
but, just in case u don't get the vocabulary in time,
explain it in different way, or maybe give an example!
it can give the simillar outcome
some of us feel being ignored when we are presenting and others are talking privately
depressing isn't it?
to avoid this, maybe u can joke at the beginning to get everyone's attention (yeah, so that no one will ignore u xD )
when u get everyone's attention, use eye contact to those who are listening
it shows how we(presentors) respect them,
for those who kinda wandering around in their dream,
use eye contact and tell them: "hey, i talking to u, don't fall asleep >:) "
maybe u are shy and afraid of making eye contacts with people when u speaking,
but this really helps ur performance, it gives u encouragement for urself
it makes u look sincere too :)
thank u for ur time and hope u guys can excel in ur studies
let's us wish that Shoba can overcome her fear too :)
