FCM newbies~

this afternoon was walking out from a lecturer's office and i saw people standing at the 3rd floor of FCM(Faculty of Creative Multimedia in MultiMedia University) building, it doesn't seems like something u would see everyday. i go take a look on what they are looking.

oh, the first year FCMers are presenting their artwork on the floor for their lecturer Cermat to evaluate. Their artwork is so big that it does not suitable to put it on table. Everyone in the class display their artwork there, each of their artwork are as big as a Mahjong paper.

i was thinking: "wow! some kinda bazaar or art presentation! I feel like as if i am in Pasar Seni!!"
then, i walked down from the 3rd floor to the ground floor to check them out.

oooh things are like globe like images, trees, symbols that represents their hobbies...
all these are kinda symbolic type of art. i kinda like it and got kinda excited.
then i just starting to walk around their art works and take a brief look.

On the other side, the Cermat is scolding a guy who draw only a little picture in the big big mahjong paper. i not interested on what he scolding the student and i just walked through.

then i continue my tour around, and i met Christina.
she was kneeling in front of her artwork and setting her things up
i walked from her back and looking at her artwork
she looked back at i looked at her
she thought that i am her classmate then she wave at me
then i though she is someone that i-know-but-forgotten so i wave back at her
"u are from this class also?"
"no, i just passing by"

then we start discuss about Cermat and art stuffs
then i found out that Cermat only approves things that he likes
but i don't think that is what a lecturer suppose to be like this
a good art lecturer should be open minded andappreciate good artwork
but this Cermat...

he only approves artwork that suits his interest(it's common, i know)
but, even if the work is nice, if he doesn't suits his taste, he won't approve it...
sad huh?

if u ask me about my perception of art, if few years back i might answer u
"Art is any form that used to capture beaty."
but now, i would say that "Art is a way of expressing urself. Techniques is just basics, what is inside ur heart is the most important."

Many may not agree on this, but, i think artist should train themselves to be a well being and good person. Becuase(my argument) ur personality will affect everything u do(ur style, u temper, ur skills, ur way of thinking, ur interest, what u like... etc)

another thing is, the broad interests of art can benefits u,
even for professional artist often have this weakness, say, in hong kong,
many of them can draw guys nicely but sucks at drawing girls(imagine girls who look like guys)

if u understands this, everything that goes through u can be beautiful ;)

o___O hmmm, are u afraid of presentations?

in fact, most of us afraid of public speaking.
it's being feared by most people according to survey(can't remember which one).

my friend here, Shoba, (yes, she has a cute name, probably she has cute parent who named her)
is afraid of public speaking,
now this blog is kinda like: dedicated to her xD hope u guys like it

we usually afraid of public speaking because of the tension, ideas like imagine u are just alone, imagine ur audience is lamp post...... it's all about eliminate ur tension of being watch
if u can overcome this problem, u r ready to public speaking xD

first step, for students, ask question in class
when we ask questions in class, everyone will be looking at u
yes, i know, the "looking at u" sounds very terrifying,
but hey, when people is speaking/ talking, u should look at them right?
it shows respect to the person who is talking.
but, what if no one is watching? well, if no one is watching u, u can do watever u want xD
i mean, u can feel free when u r asking the questions ;)
so, if u can try ask questions in the class, u can get used to the feeling of being watched(by the class)

as i have mentioned earlier in my blog(err, i sounds a bit like a lecturer =____=)
organise ur point before u going to speak at ur presentation
ur language doesn't have to be grammatically perfect,
as long as ur points is being presented, u score (yeah xD)
so, focus mainly about ur content, reading out ur notes will only make ur audience sleepy =____=

of course, even when we are well prepared, butterfly still appear in our stomachs and flying around to distract us
so, we need something to calm ourself down in order to make a good presentation
for example, get urself something to hold (like, a bottle of water)
for myself, i rolled over my sheet of text and hold it so that i feel secure in certain sense :)
maybe u can do it too! grabbing a bottle of water and pretending that u are thirsty

in every presentation, we often encounters a problem,
we forgot of certain vocabulary in our sentense (yes, in Malaysia, english rarely a person's mothertongue)
when u have things like this happen, we usually get nervous staright away and struggling to get things right, right?
but, DON'T DO THAT
it making urself even more nervous
my suggestion is, try pause for a while, (pretending there's a flemme in ur throat or something)
calm down, take a long breath and continue
it helps u think better instead of rushing urself
but, just in case u don't get the vocabulary in time,
explain it in different way, or maybe give an example!
it can give the simillar outcome

some of us feel being ignored when we are presenting and others are talking privately
depressing isn't it?
to avoid this, maybe u can joke at the beginning to get everyone's attention (yeah, so that no one will ignore u xD )
when u get everyone's attention, use eye contact to those who are listening
it shows how we(presentors) respect them,
for those who kinda wandering around in their dream,
use eye contact and tell them: "hey, i talking to u, don't fall asleep >:) "
maybe u are shy and afraid of making eye contacts with people when u speaking,
but this really helps ur performance, it gives u encouragement for urself
it makes u look sincere too :)

thank u for ur time and hope u guys can excel in ur studies
let's us wish that Shoba can overcome her fear too :)

Gui Gon Jin?!!!

i took a test which few of my friends taken it and some of them got Jar Jar Binks xD

its the WHICH STAR WARS CHARACTER ARE YOU

i got Gui Gon Jin as my character,
nice, discipline, and even a good fighter(yes, he's being killed by Darth Maul, but i still think he's cool xD )

even though my friends has Jar Jar Binks character, but i still love them xD
p/s: the second time i try to get the picture to post it here, i got Master Yoda and Palpatine instead =____________= strange, really strange

here's my character, there u go

advices from some one who claims he is kinda wise

below is what i thought of recently, its kinda unsorted and hope u guys can go with the flow :P

1. for those who like drafting
don't draft the car in front when u are approaching a red traffic light. =_____= duh

2. for those who driving cheap car like AE86 and don't mind paying extra maintenance fee
u can take a turn more quicker in the drift. :)

3. for all young, talented, jedi with a master u have saved for more than 10 times
when ur master tells u that he will win because he has the higher ground, listen to him. :)

i think i shall let u figure out what i am talking about

the remix speaking slang

one day i wake up i found out that something different about myself
i have this remix speaking slang

i no longer saying thing the same as before
the remix speaking: "i think this is a not true."
i now will say something like: "i i i i think this is not true."

hmmm
i was thinking it is no big deal then i ignore it
BUT

i feel that this isnt my style >___<
its like ur computer lagging while u playing ur favourite game
i am a marketing student, speaking is kinda essential tools for me >___<

so i try to make myself make used to how i used to speak
(dame!! i have to put extra effort to be myself)
the trick is, think and organise what points u want to say before u say it.
say, i have a joke:

"there's 3 rubbish bin walking down the street
big size, medium size, and small size
they were walking, walking, and walking and
the small rubbish bin knock the medium knock the medium size rubbish bin in front of him

hey hey! can't we go any faster? the small rubbish bin said

errrrr... i dont know... maybe i shall ask the big rubbish bin who is leading said the medium size rubbish bin

hey big bin! can't we go any faster? the small bin behind is complaining!! medium size bin asked the big bin

the big bin turns back slowly and say:
we are rubbish bin, right?
why should we walk so fast?"

its like this
first arrange the points
~3 bins walking down the street
~explain the order of walking
~small bin complain
~medium bin passing the message
~the big bin answer coldly (the most important message/ point)

i basically arrange my presentation this way
settings >> explanation >> my point

back to my remix-speaking-slang-sydromme
i got it from my room mate >___<
he have the habit of speaking like like like like this everytime he speaking out his points
he prefers to do things quick but he ideas and grammar part of his brain couldn't keep up the speed
therefore, he he he he speak this way >___<

anyway, hope my pre-speaking-point technique can help u guys who interested :)
